About Me

About Joey Does Tech

Hi, I'm Joey - the fixer, filmer and occasional board-breaker behind Joey Does Tech, a UK electronics repair channel and community. I fix broken consoles and controllers on YouTube and Twitch, and teach people to do the same.

In February 2020 I couldn't use a soldering iron. I wanted out of the 9-to-5, so I started buying broken tech, fixing it and filming every win and fail along the way. That side hustle turned into a job at a repair shop, then into Joey Does Tech full-time, and now a community of hundreds of people learning to do the same.

How I Got Here

Spoiler: it wasn't overnight.

  1. 2007First YouTube videosChopping willow trees in Runescape near Draynor Manor. Peak content. From there it was FIFA, League of Legends, Old School Runescape, PUBG and plenty more.
  2. 2012Started livestreamingOften to 3-7 viewers, for years. Not glamorous, but I never stopped.
  3. 2020Picked up a soldering ironZero experience - I barely knew how to use a screwdriver. I started fixing broken gadgets to resell and filmed the whole thing. The audience I'd built over the years came with me, and things finally started to grow.
  4. 2022The channel became my CVMy repair videos landed me a job at a local repair shop, where I spent nearly two years fixing whatever came through the door.
  5. January 2024Full-time content creatorLeft the repair shop and went all in on Joey Does Tech. Scary, but the best decision I've made.
  6. April 2024Twitch PartnerMade official on 13 April 2024 - a big one after 12 years of streaming.
  7. November 2025Launched the Electronics Repair communityThe thing I wish I'd had when I started: a repair community on Skool with lessons, weekly calls and expert techs on hand.
  8. NowStill just getting startedRepair videos, buying broken tech and selling it on fixed, and a community that's grown to 390+ members. Not bad for someone who couldn't use a screwdriver in 2020.
