A Repair Community, Not Just a Course

Videos teach you the theory. People get you through the repair.

Anyone can watch a YouTube video. The hard part is when your board doesn't behave like the one in the video, you've checked everything twice and you've got no one to ask. That's what this community is for.

  • 💬 Post your repair, get real answers - share photos and readings, and members and experts help you work out what's going on.
  • 🩺 Diagnose together - community sessions where we work through faults as a group. You learn from everyone's repairs, not just your own.
  • 🎥 Weekly calls and hangouts - jump on, ask questions, show what's on your bench, or just chill and chat repair.
  • 🤝 1-on-1 help from repair experts - stuck on a tricky one? Book a session and get walked through it.
  • 🌍 People from all over the world - complete beginners through to working repair techs, all happy to help.

What Is Skool?

New to Skool? Here's the quick version.

Skool is the app the community lives on. Think of it as a private Facebook group, an online classroom and an events calendar rolled into one - minus the ads, the algorithm and the random people arguing in the comments. It works in your browser or on the Skool app for iPhone and Android.

  • 💬 Community - the main feed. Post repairs, ask questions, share wins.
  • 📚 Classroom - all the lessons and resources, in order.
  • 📅 Calendar - weekly calls and events, with reminders.
  • 👥 Members - see who's in and connect with people.
  • 🗺️ Map - find other repairers near you.
  • 🏆 Leaderboards - earn points for helping others and unlock levels.

Who This Community Is For

Built for people starting from zero, but you'll find experienced techs in here too.

  • 🔰 Complete beginners - never soldered, not sure what a PCB is. Perfect, that's where we start.
  • 🎮 Gamers and tinkerers - fed up of binning broken consoles and controllers and want to fix them yourself.
  • 💷 Side hustlers - want to buy broken tech, repair it and sell it on for profit.
  • 🔧 Aspiring repair techs - want the skills (and the portfolio) to land a job at a repair shop.

Why Learn Electronics Repair With Me?

Because I was exactly where you are not that long ago.

I started learning repair in February 2020 with zero experience and documented the whole thing on YouTube - every mistake, every fried board, every win. That channel ended up being my CV: it landed me a job at a local repair shop, where I spent nearly two years fixing everything that came through the door. Now I run Joey Does Tech full-time.

The thing I was missing back then was people to ask. So I built the community I wish I'd had - and brought in expert repair techs so you're never stuck on your own.

What Members Say

It has completely changed how I approach repairs, helping me build the skills and confidence to repair boards instead of replacing them... Joining was the best decision I made!Shane G. - member for 4 months
I recently decided to start learning electronics which I have always wanted to do. I just didn't know where to start... the courses Joey provides allow me to learn at my own pace.Shaun - member for 10 months
The classroom content is full of fantastic information that's constantly being updated, and the 1-on-1 support calls to assist with repairs are on another level. It is well worth the monthly fee.Tristan T. - member for 11 months
It is a great community for someone who is just starting out in electronic repairs. It is a great resource for experienced techs.Michael N. - member for 11 months
Incredible coaching, motivation and community along side vast amounts of detailed information. Worth it's weight in gold!Brad H. - member for 4 months
If my girlfriend were hanging off the edge of a cliff and the community of this Skool group were also hanging off the edge of a cliff, and I could only save one...... All I'm gonna say is that I'd have to start learning some new chat up lines.Rad G. - member for 4 months

Electronics Repair Community FAQs

The stuff people usually ask before joining.

Is this just an online course?

No - the lessons are there, but the community is the main thing. You get real people helping with your actual repairs, weekly calls and 1-on-1 support. The lessons give you the foundations; the community gets you through the tricky bits.

Do I need any experience?

None at all. The first lessons start with "what's a PCB?" and build from there.

What tools do I need to start?

Less than you think. The basics are a decent soldering iron, flux, solder and a multimeter. My full soldering tools list breaks down what to buy first and what can wait.

How much does it cost?

$29 a month, billed through Skool. One price, full access to everything - every lesson, every call, every bit of support. Cancel any time.

How does the free trial work?

Start a free trial and you'll get a look inside and access to part of the lessons, so you can see how it all works before paying a penny. Upgrade to unlock everything.

Do I need to download anything?

No. Skool works in any web browser, and there's a free Skool app for iPhone and Android if you'd rather use your phone.

Can I actually make money from repairs?

Yes - buying broken tech, fixing it and selling it on is how I built my own business. Tips on pricing, sourcing and selling are part of the membership.
